wish you were here 2021

                                                     wish you were here 2021
The cover I’ve designed for the 2021 edition of "Wish you were here" wants to evoke nostalgia and melancholy; nostalgia and melancholy for the life before the pandemic, for those people who were far away and couldn’t reach us, those people we would have loved to have close to us. The scene is setted in an abandoned trainstation that once was a place of departures and arrivals. There is a boy who’s not just looking at the horizon or experiencing the event passively, the boy is being "engulfed" by the ground, the climbing plants are clinging to his legs, generating a dreamlike, dystopian image that couldn’t be more real at the same time.  The boy is completely blocked and can’t move from there. Due to that all his feelings and emotions are amplified and become overwhelming for him. He can’t think of anything else, he can only continue to look at the horizon and think about everything he is missing. He has a phone in his hand, he could call the person he hopes to see appear on the horizon and the void would be filled. Is it enough? Is it enough to see and hear someone you love? Can’t smell her/his scent, can’t touch her/his skin, can’t be sure it's even real.
